One Small Change

January 12, 2015

As humans, we seem to be built to resist change; especially change that involves our character.

As leaders though, we expect others to somehow defy this human tendency and exert great effort to making changes. It upsets us when they don't.

Let's consider Ben Franklin's wisdom about that:

"Are you angry that others disappoint you?

Remember, you cannot depend on yourself."

Maybe our own character as leaders should change. Maybe we should increase our empathy toward others who are having trouble making changes

If we are more understanding, we can better help them. In my estimation, that strengthens us too.
